Bring the taste of fall into the kitchen with these perfectly sweet and light dessert baked apples.

  • 4 medium unpeeled Braeburn apples, cored
  • 10 teaspoons butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups Nature Valley Crunchy Bar Granola (either flavour)
  • 1/2 cup roasted whole almonds
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired

    Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 13x9 glass baking dish with cooking spray. Cut apples in half lengthwise; place in baking dish. Top each apple half with 1 teaspoon butter. Sprinkle each apple half with 1 tablespoon brown sugar.

    In food processor or blender, place granola and almonds. Cover; process until mixture looks like coarse crumbs. In medium microwavable bowl, microwave remaining 2 tablespoons butter uncovered on High 20 seconds or until melted. Add granola mixture, stirring until well blended. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons granola mixture over each apple half.

    Cover; bake 30 minutes. Uncover; bake 20 minutes longer or until apples are tender and topping is golden brown. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
