A perfectly refreshing balance of sweet and salty with lots of crunch. Surprise your family with this great-tasting salad tonight!


  • 1 large apple, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 large celery, sliced
  • 1/4 cup (50 mL) mayonnaise or salad dressing
  • 1 can (284 mL) mandarin oranges, drained (optional)
  • 1/4 cup (50 mL) salted peanuts or raisins
  • lettuce leaves
  • 1 cup (250 mL) CHEERIOS* cereal

    Stir together apple, celery, mandarin oranges, mayonnaise and peanuts. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

    Place lettuce leaves on 4 salad plates. Divide salad mixture among salad plates. Top each with 1/4 cup (50 mL) cereal. Serve immediately.

  • Tip: Try substituting ripe Bosc or Anjou pears in place of apple in this classic Fall inspired salad.
