Porridge in a slow cooker! It will be ready for you when you wake up in the morning.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups (1.5 L) water
  • 3 cups (750 mL) old-fashioned oats
  • 2 apples, peeled, chopped (about 2 cups/500 mL)
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) sweetened dried cranberries or raisins
  • 2 tbsp (25 mL) butter or margarine, melted
  • 1/2 tsp (2 mL) ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp (1 mL) salt

Steps

    Spray 3 1/2- to 4-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. In slow cooker, mix all ingredients.

    Cover; cook on Low heat setting 6 to 8 hours. Serve porridge with brown sugar and milk or cream, as desired.
