8 cups (2 L) Rice Chex* Cereal
2 cups (500 mL) bite-size cheese crackers
1 cup (250 mL) bite-size pretzel twists
6 tbsp (90 mL) butter or margarine
3 tbsp (45 mL) steak sauce
1 tbsp (15 mL) Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp (5 mL) ground red pepper (cayenne)
1 cup (250 mL) French-fried onions
1 cup (250 mL) salted peanuts
1 tbsp (15 mL) onion powder
2 tsp (10 mL) garlic powder
In large microwaveable bowl, mix cereals, crackers and pretzels.
In 2-cup microwaveable measuring cup, microwave butter on high about 40 seconds or until melted. Stir in steak sauce, Worcestershire sauce and pepper. Pour over cereal mixture; stir until evenly coated.
Microwave uncovered on High 4 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir in onions and peanuts. Sprinkle with onion and garlic powders; toss until evenly coated. Spread on waxed paper or foil to cool. Store in airtight container.
Variation: Try mixed nuts in place of the peanuts.
