Ingredients

  • 2 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 4 green onions, thinly sliced on the bias, green and white parts separated
  • 1 teaspoon ground red pepper (cayenne)
  • 1 1/2 cups finely chopped cooked chicken
  • Vegetable oil
  • Real maple syrup

Steps

  • 1
In large bowl, mix Bisquick™ mix, broth, egg, 2 tablespoons of the melted butter, the green onion whites and red pepper. In small bowl, mix remaining 2 tablespoons melted butter and the chicken.
  • 2
Heat waffle maker; brush with vegetable oil. Pour 1/2 cup of the batter onto centre of hot waffle maker. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup of the chicken mixture. Close lid of waffle maker.
  • 3
Bake 3 to 4 minutes or until steaming stops. Carefully remove waffle. Repeat with remaining batter and chicken. Top waffles with green onion greens, and serve with syrup.

Expert Tips

  • Tip 1
Don’t like spicy flavours? Leave out the ground red pepper – these waffles still have plenty of flavour.
  • Tip 2
To keep cooked waffles warm, place on cookie sheet in 200°F oven in single layer to keep them crisp.
