Ingredients

1 pkg (496 g) Betty Crocker* Oatmeal Cookie Mix
1/2 cup (125 mL) butter or margarine
1 egg
1 tbsp (15 mL) water
1 pkg (8 oz) chopped dates
3/4 cup(175 mL) chopped walnuts
Icing sugar, if desired

    Heat oven to 375°F (190°C). In large bowl, stir all ingredients until stiff dough forms.

    Drop dough by teaspoonfuls 2 inches (5 cm) apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.

    Bake 10 to 11 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Sprinkle with icing sugar.

  • Tip: To use whole dates, snip dates into small pieces with scissors dipped into a glass of water.
