Ingredients

  • 4 cups (1 L) Rice Chex* Cereal
  • 4 cups (1 L) Bugles* original corn snacks
  • 2 cups (500 mL) chow mein noodles
  • 1 cup (250 mL) pretzel sticks
  • 1 cup (250 mL) salted peanuts
  • 6 tbsp (90 mL) butter or margarine
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) soy sauce
  • 1 pkg (1 oz/28 g) chow mein oriental seasoning mix
  • 1 cup (250 mL) wasabi-coated peas

    In large microwaveable bowl, mix cereal, corn snacks, chow mein noodles, pretzels and peanuts.

    In microwaveable measuring cup, microwave butter uncovered on High about 40 seconds or until melted. Stir in garlic powder, soy sauce and chow mein seasoning with wire whisk until well mixed. Pour over cereal mixture, stirring until evenly coated.

    Microwave on High about 5 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes, until mixture looks dry and crisp. Spread on paper towels to cool. Place in serving bowl; stir in wasabi-coated peas. Store in airtight container.

    OVEN DIRECTIONS: Heat oven to 250ºF. In ungreased large roasting pan, mix cereal, corn snacks, chow mein noodles, pretzels and peanuts. In 1-quart saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Remove from heat. Stir in garlic powder, soy sauce and chow mein seasoning mix with wire whisk until well mixed. Pour over cereal mixture, stirring until evenly coated. Bake uncovered 50 to 55 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes, until mixture looks dry and crisp. Spread on paper towels; cool 15 minutes. Place in serving bowl; stir in wasabi-coated peas. Store in airtight container.
