We’re all about tradition and the tried-and-true, but when classic Snickerdoodles get a flavour twist, and that flavour twist is apple, we know that this is the cookie we’ll be baking for the holidays. Plus, we just really like to say Appledoodles.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • 1 roll Pillsbury™ refrigerated sugar cookies
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded and packed Granny Smith apple (about 1 medium apple)

Steps

    Heat oven to 350°F. Line two large cookie sheets with cooking parchment paper. In small bowl, mix sugar and apple pie spice.

    In large bowl, break cookie dough into small chunks; stir in flour. Remove excess moisture from apple by pressing with paper towels. Add apple to dough and mix well; cover and refrigerate dough 30 minutes.

    With floured hands, form dough into 1 1/4-inch balls (dough will be sticky). Roll dough in sugar-spice mixture; place 2 inches apart on cookie sheets.

    Bake 15 to 17 minutes or until edges are light golden brown and centers are set. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets to cooling rack.

    Store covered in refrigerator or at room temperature.
  • Tip 2
    A Granny Smith apple was used in this recipe, but other good options are Pink Lady, Honeycrisp or Braeburn. Just be sure to remove as much excess moisture from the apple as you can before stirring into the dough mixture.

    Pillsbury™ refrigerated sugar cookies are available at most major retailers from mid-November to January.
