Baked Taco Chicken Wings

Love everything about wings -- except frying them? These taco wings bake up beautifully without the hassle and mess.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Original Bisquick™ mix
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 package Old El Paso™ taco seasoning mix
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 lb (1.5 kg) chicken wings

  • 1 cup (250 mL) sour cream
  • 1 can (127 mL) Old El Paso™ chopped green chilies
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves
  • 2 tablespoons roughly chopped green onions
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

    Heat oven to 450°F. Fit large rectangular wire rack in 18x13-inch rimmed pan; spray both with cooking spray.

    In large bowl, stir together Bisquick™ mix, oil, taco seasoning mix and salt until blended; add chicken, and turn to coat. Place in single layer on rack in pan.

    Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until chicken is deep brown and juice of chicken is clear when thickest part is cut to bone (at least 165°F).

    Meanwhile, place Herbed Sour Cream ingredients in blender. Cover and blend 30 to 60 seconds or until smooth. Serve with wings.

    For best results, pat chicken dry with paper towels before coating.
  • Tip 2
    The Herbed Sour Cream can be prepared up to a day in advance. Store covered in refrigerator.
  • Tip 3
    Using a wire rack allows air circulation around the wings, which creates a crispy texture. For best results, be sure to use a wire rack just smaller than your pan.
