Ingredients

  • 1 lb (500 g) lean ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 1/3 cup chopped carrot
  • 1/3 cup chopped celery
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 can (14 oz/398 mL) tomato pasta sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Hamburger Helper™ noodle
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons shredded fresh basil leaves

Steps

  • 1
In 12-inch nonstick skillet, cook beef, onions, carrot and celery over medium-high heat 10 to 12 minutes, stirring frequently, until beef is thoroughly cooked and vegetables are softened; drain.
  • 2
Stir in Italian seasoning, pasta sauce and hot water. Stir in uncooked pasta and sauce mix (from Hamburger Helper™ box). Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 11 to 14 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender.
  • 3
Remove from heat. Sprinkle with cheese and basil leaves.

  • We used tomato basil pasta sauce, but feel free to experiment with your favourite flavours of pasta sauce.
  • Like a little heat? Stir in 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes with the Italian seasoning.
