Ingredients

  • 6 cups (1.5 L) sliced unpeeled cooking apples (6 medium)
  • 1/4 cup (50 mL) frozen apple juice concentrate, thawed
  • 1/2 tsp (2 mL) ground cinnamon
  • 6 Nature Valley* Maple Harvest or Honey & Oats Crunchy Granola Bars (3 pouches), crushed
  • 1/4 cup (50 mL)butter, softened
  • Vanilla ice cream, if desired

Steps

    Heat oven to 375ºF. Spray 8-inch square (2-quart) glass baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. In medium bowl, mix apples, apple juice concentrate and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon until well mixed. Spread in baking dish.

    In same bowl, mix crushed granola bars and softened butter. Sprinkle over apples.

    Bake uncovered 25 to 35 minutes or until apples are tender and topping is golden brown. Serve with ice cream.

    Variation: For variety, stir 2 to 4 tablespoons ground flaxseed into the topping mixture before sprinkling over apples.
